Laura and Tyler met in 2018 while serving on active duty in the Army at Fort Carson, Colorado. Although their life together began there, Laura always felt a strong desire to eventually return home to Florida. Today, the home they are opening as Shepherd’s Haven is especially meaningful to them, as it is the same home Laura lived in during high school.

Through their own life experiences, they understand how deeply guidance, stability, and support can impact a young person’s future. Both experienced challenging upbringings and know they would not be where they are today without God’s faithfulness and the mentors who walked alongside them during difficult seasons of life.

As foster parents and followers of Christ, they felt called to create a home where young people would not have to navigate life alone. Inspired by the heart of the Good Shepherd, their hope through Shepherd’s Haven is to provide mentorship, encouragement, practical support, and a stable foundation for youth in foster care and unaccompanied homeless youth as they prepare for independent adulthood.
